The floating restriction comes first
The operator’s current notice says the park administration suspended bathing from 29 September 2026 for protection and maintenance. It suggests reopening during December, without a confirmed day. Treat that as an expectation, not a bookable reopening date.
Older descriptions, images and reviews still describe swimming. Even the itinerary icons on the same listing retain a swimming stop. The newer written closure notice is the more useful instruction for this booking. If floating is the reason for your trip, obtain an explicit update before paying or compare the current Laguna Cejar option.
What the current tour offers
The four-and-a-half-hour listing describes the journey from San Pedro across the desert to the seven lagoons, time on paths and viewpoints, and a Magic Bus photo stop while the suspension remains in force. The lagoon colours and salt formations are the reason to choose it now.
The small-group listing states a maximum of 15. AM departures include breakfast; PM departures include a cocktail. Choose the time slot for the experience you want and confirm how the temporary route is allocated. Do not assume both refreshments are part of the same booking.
Baltinache or Cejar?
Baltinache currently makes most sense for travellers who want unusual scenery and photography and are content staying out of the water. Cejar’s featured product continues to advertise a floating stop, with Ojos del Salar and Tebinquinche on the circuit. Ask whether the bathing area is operating on your date before committing to either.
You do not need both lagoons excursions in a short itinerary. Pick one, then keep another afternoon for Moon Valley or rest. The Baltinache versus Cejar guide compares the choice directly.
Pickup, road travel and entry fees
The listing includes hotel pickup and shows a central finish at Caracoles 600. It is not an airport excursion: arrive in San Pedro first and give the supplier your accommodation address. The drive includes rough desert-road travel, so ask about the vehicle if you have back or motion-sickness concerns.
Park entry is separate. The operator currently publishes a temporary reduced access fee alongside its older normal fee, which makes a copied headline amount especially unreliable. Get the applicable amount and payment instructions for your visit date. The listing asks for advance payment, preferably in cash, and mentions a surcharge for payment links.
What to pack while bathing is suspended
Prioritise water, sun protection, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and a layer against the wind. A towel and swimsuit will not turn a sightseeing ticket into permission to bathe. Follow the local restrictions even if a previous visitor’s photograph shows people in the water.
The listing excludes children under 6 and pregnant travellers. It also contains a maximum-altitude claim that is not clearly explained by the current route. If altitude is a concern, ask which stops are included rather than assuming a single lagoon elevation represents the whole excursion.
Fit it into a wider visit
Baltinache can provide a shorter outing between more demanding days, but still involves travel, sun and walking. Our four-day itinerary keeps a lagoon choice separate from the longest highland circuit. If your dates are fixed during the suspension, decide whether the scenery alone meets your expectations rather than booking on the hope of a last-minute reopening.
